Film Screening: The Week
A 3-day climate change event at Ecovillage at Ithaca
The Week is a climate mobilization tool that aims to reach “the broad middle” – the millions of people who are concerned about climate change but not mobilized yet – through a transformative week-long group experience, centered around a 3-part documentary film and group conversations.
The Week’s approach is based on recents insights in the psychology of climate change, as well as research on past movements that successfully broke through fear and apathy. The heart of The Week is a 3-session experience over the course of one week in a small group - friends, family, in the workplace, in school, or your place of worship. During each session, the group watches an episode together of a powerful documentary, carefully scripted to unlock emotional reckoning and spark vulnerable and profound group conversation, for which we provide extensive guides.
The three episodes carefully guide participants through an emotional “U” shaped journey. We share the hard reality, and then help them process the shock and grief most of them experience (going down the “U”). From there, we gradually help them access inner resolve that by the third episode leads them to inspiration, steadfast action, and outreach to others.
The screening takes place over three consecutive days - each day with a one-hour film followed by small group discussion. We are offering both in-person and virtual options for the screening.

Testimonial from Ecovillage resident Corirose Benitez Anjali
My experience with The Week ushered me into a journey of awakening, first into the full reality of the current trajectory of the climate catastrophe and then to see with powerful clarity the capacity we have to transform and heal our world. Brilliantly making real and personal what we are facing at this moment on Earth, The Week is a transmission to support millions of us to awaken together. I'm deeply grateful to Helene, Frederick and friends for their dedication to this project.
I look forward to sharing this vital and empowering experience with you!
